Sand, Gravel & Fill
Natural 2's (2"-3") are now in stock!! This gravel is a large, durable stone used primarily for heavy-duty structural and drainage projects. Also used for landscaping.
Natural 5C's (1" - 2"), also known as river rock, provides a clean, natural, and low-maintenance ground cover. Can be placed around plants to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. The weight and size helps prevent soil erosion.
#8 Natural (1/2" - 1") are primarily used for landscaping. They are good for drainage. Used for backfilling areas and where ground settling will be a problem.
Pea Gravel (Pea Size) are most commonly used to create walkways, patios, and driveways due to its smooth rounded stones and excellent drainage. Pea gravel can also be used to prevent weeds from growing around plants.
Oversized Natural stones average 4" - 6" are typically used for decorative landscaping, construction projects, garden borders, and sturdy wall construction. These rocks are too large for typical landscaping ground cover but can be used for creating distinct features. These are not washed, some dirt should be expected.
Screened Sand (spec 23) is a coarse sand used under pavers and flagstones. The sand will lock together to create a stable bedding layer that resists shifting. The large particle size also allows for water drainage which will help prevent paver movement. Also used to create a smooth, level base for above ground swimming pools. This sand is also used to level low spots and fill holes in landscaping or construction projects.
Masonry Sand is washed and screened to remove impurities like silt and clay. It's primary use is mixing with cement and water to create mortar for bonding bricks, stones, and pavers. It can also serve as an infill material for cracks in pavers, a base layer under swimming pools. Mason sand can also serve as a play sand for sandboxes or for a vollyball court.
Pit Run is mined directly out of the gravel vein. It is a sand & gravel that compacts well. Clay can be mixed for better compaction. Used for race tracks, pit roadways, and also as a base for pole barns.
Free Fill is fill dirt that isn't made for growing but primarily to take up space. It raises up and fills areas. This is not topsoil.
Clay Fill dirt is for filling holes, around a home's foundation, or as the base of a berm. Packs hard and holds water.
Slag Duraberm is a crushed steel byproduct similar to crushed limestone. It's a 1" stone to powder and compacts well, making it an excellent alternative for a driveway or parking lot.
Not for structual building: Due to its unstable nature, Duraberm is not recommended for use under buildings.
Slag 2's (1 3/8" - 2 1/2") is a type of coarse, angular steel slag aggregate used as a base for heavy-duty applications like driveways, parking lots, and large contruction projects while providing stabilty and eriosion control.
Not for structual building: A critical caution is that slag 2's should not be used as a base for building foundations. The product lacks the necessary compaction properties for a structural foundation, which could lead to stability issues.
